At the start of the new decade, W.R. Gay from Rocky Mount became Croatan Lodge’s first lodge chief. In his planbook message, he encouraged members to take on the challenges of the new 3-A region by staying active in the lodge and supporting their home units. Gay set goals to boost summer camp attendance and increase community service. He reminded Scouts that success depends on living by the Scout Oath, Scout Law, and the Order of the Arrow Obligation, continuing the lodge’s strong tradition of leadership and service.
